Our team is trained to provide a comfortable
experience for all children.
You work around the clock to keep them happy and healthy,
let us help make cleaning and exams easy!
Our practice philosophy states that we believe all patients should be treated fairly and equally, regardless of race, income or personal situation, and disability. As specialists our pediatric dentists have undergone additional dentistry training to focus on the unique physical, and emotional needs of each patient at our practice. We are proud to say our facility is equipped with the expertise and technical skills required to examine and treat special needs patients while keeping comfort and relaxation in mind.
"How do I know I need specialty care for my child?"
Examples of disorders that may require specialty care commonly include:
* Deafness
* Blindness
* Autism Spectrum Disorders
* Asperger's Syndrome
* TS: Tourette's Syndrome
* PDD-NOS: Pervasive Developmental Disorder
* Emotional Disturbances
* PTSD: Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder
* Generalized Anxiety Disorder
* Schizophrenia Spectrum Disorders
* Schizoid Personality Disorder
* Movement Disorders
* Epilepsy
* Cerebral Palsy
* Parkinsonism
Each child may experience and communicate their disability differently, because of this your child's treatment plan will be tailored to their individual needs as much as possible. Due to this variable your child's treatment plan can take many different shapes and forms as we work to identify what makes them comfortable, some exams may appear routine or "standard" while others may utilize special equipment.
* Please note that some children may be intolerant to dental treatment due to their disability and may always present as non-compliant no matter what accommodations are made. Your child's care team will always work to make treatment as comfortable as possible no matter the circumstance.
Sanford Pediatric Dentistry believes in upholding continuity of care for our special needs patients. We will continue to treat patients that require accommodation and specialty care after they have graduated into adult patients if our pediatric dentists make the determination that a referral to a general dentist would not be in the patient's best interest to address their needs.
